Starshine Kids Marketing, Inc. is headed under the leadership of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thelma Petas.
Thelma is responsible for the Starshine Kids concept as a result of her work and care for children over the years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Toledo along with a degree in Metaphysical Studies from Delphi University in McCaysville, Georgia. She worked as a counselor for Family Services of Northwest Ohio for three years, providing counseling and case management to at-risk youth. Additionally, Thelma has gained experience in the retail industry, as she owned an entrepreneurial startup for six years called Lifeworks. She has worked at Art Express, an entrepreneurial venue providing promotional products to commercial clients. Thelma created Starshine Kids in with a targeted goal to manufacture and distribute new children’s products for the toy market.
Larry H. Bernstein
Larry H. Bernstein is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SSK. Bernstein was formerly the President of Hasbro Toy Group and the Executive VP of Hasbro Inc. Bernstein worked for Hasbro for nearly 19 years and was a senior member of the team that brought Hasbro from sales of $70 million to a multinational company with sales of $2.7 billion and was instrumental in bringing such dolls to the marketplace as GI Joe. Mr. Bernstein holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Boston University with emphasis in Marketing and Economics.
Tim Bush has joined SSK as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Tim is the Group President for NPD Asia and is currently reshaping the overseas office for NPD. Tim brings sound business experience from his prior work at ACNielsen, American Express, and Time Warner. Tim will aid SSK with marketing research and product development.
John Shobe joins SSK as the President of Sales and has over 35 years of experience in the sales and marketing of toys. Shobe was Vice President of Sales with McFarlane Toys and has worked with Toy Biz and Hasbro. From 1999-2006 he was an independent sales representative and has established relationships with Wal-Mart, Target, Toys ‘R’ Us, K-mart, KayBee and JC Penney. He has experience in training, hiring, sales, marketing, and public relations departments.
